Resilience Recovery Resources offers comprehensive outpatient care for teen boys facing addiction to benzos and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our teen benzodiazepine addiction treatment program cares for teen boys and adolescents in Florida through a combination of evidence-based methods, holistic healing, peer support, family involvement, and support groups for long-term addiction recovery.
Benzodiazepines are a common class of prescription drugs that have legitimate medical use. They may be prescribed to help manage conditions ranging from alcohol withdrawal to anxiety, panic, insomnia and sleep disorders, seizures, and muscle spasms. However, they can also be addictive, with misuse and abuse of prescription benzos, as well as street-level benzos. The risk of addiction increases when using benzos over a long time, for reasons not outlined by a healthcare professional, or without a prescription or necessity.
Commonly misused or abused benzos include:
While these medications can be effective when used under the supervision of a medical professional, they can also be risky. Understanding signs of potential benzo use and their effects can help parents not just recognize benzo addiction in their teen son, but take an informed approach to change.
Potential signs of benzo use include:
Benzo addiction can affect not just teens, but entire families. However, treatment is always available. The right support, education, and community can go a long way in helping families confront the impact of benzo addiction together while addressing underlying needs for a healthy approach to change.
Resilience Recovery Resources offers dedicated benzo addiction treatment for teens, addressing the unique impact of substance use disorder on your son and the unique challenges, influences, and factors that led to benzo use. This approach ensures your teen has access to care that matches their needs through age-appropriate care, evidence-based treatment, individual and group therapy, peer support, and a developmental and skills-based approach to change.
Our commitment to clinical excellence goes beyond a single approach. Each program combines evidence-based methods with holistic healing opportunities, experiential care, and life skills development to empower teens to create and sustain change. From care for underlying co-occurring disorders to trauma-informed care and polysubstance use, each program is unique and built to support the unique needs of your teen.
Our team also believes in the power of an informed and engaged family and community to support long-term healing, using group therapy and peer support to empower change while incorporating family therapy and engagement to approach healing together and empower families and parents to best support their son while challenging enabling behaviors.
We are committed to clinical excellence, providing safety through monitoring and establishing a community that fosters an accepting healing environment. Our campus utilizes this spirit of community throughout individual and group healing opportunities, using on-site amenities like our basketball court, music studio, and mural wall so teens can focus on their own wellness and skills development while embracing a sober healing culture.
For nearly a decade, Resilience Recovery has supported adolescent and young adult males through developmentally informed, family-centered care. Our transitional model emphasizes clinical excellence, accountability, and the life skills needed for sustainable recovery and independence.
Programming is thoughtfully designed around the developmental needs of young men ages 14–28. Separate tracks ensure care remains age-appropriate, clinically relevant, and aligned with each stage of growth.
Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based care grounded in relational and attachment-focused principles, including the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM). Treatment prioritizes emotional healing while building practical skills for long-term stability.
Low client-to-staff ratios allow for individualized support, meaningful therapeutic relationships, and consistent clinical oversight. Each client is known, supported, and actively guided throughout their recovery process.
Care is trauma-informed and developmentally responsive, addressing the underlying experiences that often contribute to substance use. We support the whole person — emotionally, socially, academically, and vocationally.
Families remain closely involved through weekly therapy, regular updates, and dedicated care coordination. This collaborative approach strengthens communication, rebuilds trust, and supports lasting change beyond the program.
FARR-accredited residences provide a safe, structured setting that reinforces accountability while promoting independence. Each home is intentionally designed to reflect real-world living, helping clients practice the skills necessary for a successful transition forward.
Each of our benzo treatment programs is built from the ground up to address your teen’s unique experiences. There is never a single path to healing from addiction, and by blending evidence-based care with holistic opportunities, individual and group therapy, experiential therapies, and more, we can build a path that supports lasting change.
Your teen will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with an experienced clinician, focusing on their needs and goals, and developing skills pertinent to their journey. Our individual therapy programs include evidence-based therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) to create a proven base of effective behavioral health treatment.
We also combine individual therapy with group therapy opportunities, helping teens come together to explore practical strategies, build new relationships, and provide effective peer support while developing a community centered on healing. Our group therapy also includes 12-Step integration therapies to explore new perspectives and ideas in a safe environment.
Addiction is a family disease, and through weekly family therapy sessions, we empower teens and parents to be educated, active, and involved in healing. Family therapy focuses on exploring at-home coping skills and strategies for teens and parents, improving communication and understanding, challenging enabling behaviors, enacting effective relapse-prevention skills, establishing healthy boundaries, and creating an environment focused on support, understanding, and accountability rather than blame.
We offer co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health treatment to explore the impact of mental illness, stress, and trauma on each teen’s relationship with drugs. Addressing these challenges in tandem is necessary for effective change. We address the entire situation to help teens develop integrated coping strategies for the most effective approach to transformative, lasting change.
We also provide medical supervision and medication management throughout our teen programs, blending clinical excellence and support with real-world practical skills and strategies. This further helps ensure the safety and wellness of teens as they confront new challenges and overcome hurdles while reaching new milestones in their healing journey from benzodiazepines.
Knowing what to expect can help parents and teens take their first step toward healing with confidence. Our teen programs begin with morning meditation and chores, followed by scheduled group sessions throughout the morning and early afternoon. We also schedule time for ongoing academics and meals, working with a dedicated Florida special education teacher to help teens maintain academic progress while navigating recovery. Teens are also supported through supervised meal prep, working together to build new skills and responsibilities in recovery, all before attending off-site 12-Step meetings.
Your teen should never have to choose between healing, academics, or professional ambitions. Our outpatient support, intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization program (PHP) all offer opportunities for your teen to find the best level of care to support change while tending to personal goals.
While our teen programming is designed to address the developmental needs and transitional challenges of teenagers, it is best for those who have completed a medical detox or residential program and are continuing to build on new skills and strategies for a lasting sober life. If your teen needs medical detox services or residential treatment, we can provide referrals and coordinate with you and local options to find the best fit before transitioning to care with us.
Addiction is a complicated disease, but many living with benzo addiction may also be living with underlying concerns, from anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and panic attacks, to emotional dysregulation, depression, and mood swings. We address addiction and co-occurring disorders in tandem, exploring how they can continue to inform each other to create a cycle of substance use that impacts daily life. This comprehensive approach provides the complete picture of the challenges your teen faces, working to go beyond surface-level care to get to the root of addiction and its effects.

Healing is a journey, and we work with you, your family, and your teen to not just confront the effects of benzo addiction, but to grow with you throughout stages of development as your teen adopts new skills, reaches new milestones, and embraces new freedoms and accountability in sobriety. We are committed to long-term change, using a level-based system that builds on practical skills throughout the continuing care process.
Each journey starts with an assessment, discussing your teen’s unique needs, experiences, goals, and challenges with benzos and underlying mental health needs and stress. This is a non-judgmental space that helps our expert clinicians learn about your son.
Using this information, we put together a collection of strategies and a personalized therapy program, ensuring care is tailored to the needs of your son so your family can make the most of their recovery efforts.
We offer a combination of evidence-based and holistic therapy sessions, with structured care, individual and group therapy, and age-appropriate care. Your son can address addiction and its effects from all angles.
Regular monitoring ensures we can update strategies while keeping your teen safe, addressing personal needs, measuring progress, and reaching new milestones.
We continue to work with you and your teen as they transition to new stages, advance to new levels in our system, and embrace new freedoms outside the facility. Ongoing transition and aftercare support keeps you engaged and connected to our healing community, with alumni support and discharge planning that keeps teens and entire families involved.
Resilience Recovery offers varying levels of care depending on the needs of your teen. From finding the right program to supporting your teen’s transition between these levels of care, we are committed to long-term, empowering, and sustainable wellness.
Our most intensive level of care, PHP, is divided into two paths: one for adolescents aged 14 to 17 and one for young adults aged 18 to 28. Each track focuses on the challenges and developmental needs of these age groups. These programs include 25 hours of group therapy per week, weekly family integration, individual therapy, academics and life skills support, and medical oversight.
Our IOP is a step down from our PHP and includes 9 to 15 hours of group therapy per week as teens take on more responsibilities and freedoms inside and outside our walls. These programs continue to build on practical life skills, with weekly individual therapy and family therapy sessions, life skills support, and the ability to balance academics with ongoing healing.
Our least intensive level of care, our outpatient program (OP), consists of about 6 hours a week of dedicated programming and is best for teens who have completed a higher level of care and are continuing to successfully integrate new skills, coping strategies, and build on a sober life at home. Outpatient care is also best for teens with an engaged and educated family support system at home.
While addiction can feel isolating, entire families and communities are affected. Our focus on empowerment and community ensures that nobody ever has to face addiction alone.
Empowering teens to share their stories with peers is essential. Confronting the effects of benzo addiction while building camaraderie with peers, de-stigmatizing addiction, and creating a community that supports and builds each other is crucial to lasting success.
Academics play an important role in the lives of teens, and your son does not have to pause their education to pursue addiction recovery. We work with a Florida-certified special education teacher and virtual learning so your son can continue to work toward academic goals while receiving necessary care.
Each journey takes time, and there will be challenges and hurdles along the way. We work to equip each teen and family with the skills necessary to prevent relapse and bounce back from stress, focusing not on short-term solutions, but long-term, sustainable sobriety.
While nobody wants to envision their son living with the disease of addiction, knowing the signs of benzo addiction can empower families and parents to take an informed approach to care and reach out for professional help when their son needs it most.
Signs to look for include:
Each journey is different, and noticing just some of these signs can be a reason to reach out to mental health professionals to learn more about addiction, your situation, and your options, including how to talk to your son about their needs. Calm, sympathetic early intervention can be crucial to getting your son the help they need, confronting these effects, and building a new approach to daily life.
Yes, your son should complete medical detox before beginning a program with us at Resilience Recovery Resources to navigate withdrawal symptoms and reach a point of stability. We are available to help you coordinate medical detox, locate and provide referrals to detox or residential treatment options, and provide transitional support between levels of care.
We work with your son to balance academics and healing, including working with a Florida-certified special education teacher to maintain academic enrollment and progress while working toward a drug-free life.
Weekly family therapy sessions and education for parents and caregivers are used to ensure healing happens beyond our walls. We work to empower families to support their teen, adopt effective skills as supports at home, and face addiction as a disease while building communication, establishing healthy boundaries, and challenging feelings of blame and resentment for a unified approach to lasting change.
