Outpatient Rehab for Teens

Resilience Recovery Resources treats teen substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring disorders at our outpatient rehab for teens in Florida. With flexible substance abuse treatment that focuses on emotional regulation, family involvement, and peer support for male teens and adolescents, we specialize in creating personalized and effective programs for lasting change.

Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Addiction Program for Teens

Resilience Recovery Resources offers dedicated, teen-specific outpatient programming, ensuring that the treatment and support available to your son match the needs and challenges of daily life. With a combination of evidence-based care, individual and group therapy, peer support, and a development and skills-based approach to change, we support teens who have completed detox and are continuing to work toward personal, professional, or academic goals through comprehensive outpatient drug and alcohol recovery programs.

Our outpatient programs blend proven drug and alcohol treatment with holistic and experiential therapies, addressing not just substances used and their impact on daily wellness, but the stresses and underlying mental health needs that may have informed substance use in the first place. Dedicated programs for co-occurring disorders like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or eating disorders are all available, ensuring that you or your teen has access to comprehensive, personalized support, as well as transitional care as they navigate new levels and change.

Our teen outpatient programs typically last between six and nine months, balancing real-world experience and life with ongoing support and care. This ensures you or your teen can continue to develop effective skills while pursuing personal goals, all while integrating into our healing community. Each journey is different and demands a real-world, practical skill set to navigate. With a commitment to clinical excellence and personalized support, backed by teen-dedicated groups and one-on-one work with a professional, we create a culture of empowerment and support that helps teens and families heal together.

Safe Intensive Outpatient Programs for Your Son

We are committed to support and clinical excellence, not only providing safety through monitoring and clinical support, but also establishing a community focused on healing, leveraging the natural setting of Florida to create a calm and supportive recovery environment. Our campus reflects this spirit of community through individual and group healing opportunities, on-site amenities, and around-the-clock security so teens can focus on their own wellness and skills development in a safe and supportive place.

Why Families & Young Adults Trust Us

For nearly a decade, Resilience Recovery has supported adolescent and young adult males through developmentally informed, family-centered care. Our transitional model emphasizes clinical excellence, accountability, and the life skills needed for sustainable recovery and independence.

Age and Gender-Specific Care for Adolescent and Young Adult Males

Programming is thoughtfully designed around the developmental needs of young men ages 14–28. Separate tracks ensure care remains age-appropriate, clinically relevant, and aligned with each stage of growth.

Licensed Clinicians and Evidence-Based Treatment Methods

Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based care grounded in relational and attachment-focused principles, including the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM). Treatment prioritizes emotional healing while building practical skills for long-term stability.

Small Group Sizes for Personalized Attention

Low client-to-staff ratios allow for individualized support, meaningful therapeutic relationships, and consistent clinical oversight. Each client is known, supported, and actively guided throughout their recovery process.

Trauma-Informed, Holistic Care Approach

Care is trauma-informed and developmentally responsive, addressing the underlying experiences that often contribute to substance use. We support the whole person — emotionally, socially, academically, and vocationally.

Ongoing Family Therapy and Communication

Families remain closely involved through weekly therapy, regular updates, and dedicated care coordination. This collaborative approach strengthens communication, rebuilds trust, and supports lasting change beyond the program.

Beautiful and Structured Sober Living Environments

FARR-accredited residences provide a safe, structured setting that reinforces accountability while promoting independence. Each home is intentionally designed to reflect real-world living, helping clients practice the skills necessary for a successful transition forward.

What to Expect From Our Teen Drug Rehab

Taking the first step into teen outpatient rehab can be intimidating, but knowing what to expect can help your teen begin this part of the journey with confidence. With regular individual and group sessions, integrated weekly family therapy, medication management, and a skills-based approach that empowers agency and change, our programs create new opportunities for teens to overcome challenges and build their own future.

No part of healing from addiction or underlying disorders is easy. While each journey is unique, they are all hard work. Having access to not just trained clinicians and a curated sober environment, but teen peers who understand and sympathize with the complexities of drug addiction and rehab is crucial. Our team brings community, camaraderie, and understanding while teens learn practical skills to balance healing with other goals, academics, and professional ambitions.

Our Treatment Services

Each program is built from the ground up to address the unique experiences of your teen, including the challenges, stresses, substances used, and needs of each individual. There is never a single path to overcoming drug addiction. By blending evidence-based care with holistic opportunities, individual and group therapy, experiential therapies, and much more, we can build a path that supports your teen’s unique approach to comprehensive and lasting change.

Individual Therapy

Teens will have opportunities to work one-on-one with an experienced clinician, focusing on their unique needs, goals, experiences, and skills to develop their path forward. We use evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and our NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), which provide a proven foundation for effective behavioral health treatment, all focused on empowerment, skills development, and change.

Group Therapy

We combine our individual therapy with group therapy opportunities, helping teens come together in solidarity and camaraderie to explore practical strategies, build new relationships, and provide effective peer support. This also includes 12-Step integration and experiential therapies to explore new experiences, perspectives, and ideas in a safe and curated environment.

Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment

Our team treats substance use disorder (SUD) as well as co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health challenges. We explore the impact of mental illness, stress, trauma, and more on each teen’s relationship with addictive substances. Addressing these challenges in tandem is necessary for effective change, helping teens understand how these factors inform and interact with each other for the most effective and empowering approach to transformative change.

Education Support & Life Skills Development

Healing is an ongoing journey. We focus not just on addressing symptoms of addiction, but building new life skills and lifestyles through developmentally informed care and practical skills development. From education about addiction and the journey ahead to new approaches to daily life, we combine addiction recovery with academic support through a Florida-certified special education teacher. Your teen never has to choose between their academic career and their healing.

We also include practical life skills and professional development, including resume-building, mock interviews, time management, and more, as part of our comprehensive approach to change and agency. Teens can not only overcome addiction, but can build a fulfilling daily life and career in sobriety.

Case Management

We understand that each journey is different. Individualized case management means tailoring each program and approach to the individual’s needs. There is never a “one-size-fits-all” approach to sobriety and healing. Personalized case management focuses not just on present needs, but also on the personal motivations and goals of you or your teen.

Relapse Prevention Planning

Healing and sobriety are an ongoing journey, and we provide comprehensive relapse prevention planning for teens and support for families throughout our outpatient treatment program to help teens maintain their hard-earned sobriety and lifestyle. This includes not just unique coping skills, grounding strategies, and a relapse prevention toolkit, but also education for families on how best to continue supporting the sobriety of their son.

Our aftercare planning starts two weeks before discharge. It even includes home visits prior to return, working with teens and entire families to continue supporting change, commit to lasting sobriety, and transition to a fulfilling drug-free life at home. However, nobody is ever cut off from support, and our aftercare programs and alumni integration are always available to help teens continue to focus on sobriety and update relapse prevention plans.

The Outpatient Treatment Process

Healing is a process, and we continue to support your son’s journey as they transition from detox or higher levels of care to a thriving sober life in our outpatient treatment programs. Understanding the process and advantages of outpatient treatment can help families commit to this change together, building effective support within our walls and alongside families at home.

Initial Assessment

Outpatient care starts with an initial assessment to get to know you and your son, including the substances used, underlying needs, personal impact of substances, as well as personal interests, goals, and ambitions. This helps us craft each unique program and approach to change.

Individualized Treatment Planning

We use this information to create a personalized therapy program that reflects a teen’s goals and needs. Our individualized programs also incorporate family history and experiences, working with family members to create healthy family dynamics and skills at home.

Age-Appropriate Therapy Sessions

We also offer 12-Step Integration and community meetings, combining our individualized care with group therapy and peer mentorship to create a culture of healing.

Age-Appropriate Therapy Sessions

Our outpatient care is tailored to your son’s age, including age-appropriate care and addressing developmental needs alongside addiction recovery. Your teen will experience healing alongside peers and professionals trained and specializing in these specific challenges.

Regular Progress Monitoring

Healing from addiction is a process, and we continue to monitor progress regularly to track changes, make adjustments, and support new milestones. Your son is always receiving the support and care best fit for their stage of the journey.

Transition Planning

We are committed to long-term healing, supporting your journey not just during outpatient treatment, but continuing to work with you as you transition to new stages, advance to new levels in our system, and embrace new freedoms outside the facility. Ongoing transition and aftercare support keeps you engaged and connected to our healing community.

Importance of Family Therapy for Teenagers

Addiction is a family disease, and while its effects on a teenager can feel isolating, approaching the disease as a family can have many instrumental benefits. Families and parents are involved throughout the healing process and play a crucial role in not just getting a teen to go to treatment, but in increasing the chances of lasting change. Family therapy can help maintain motivation and support change, with families at home making changes and working alongside teens to show their own commitment and care.

Learning new communication strategies, rebuilding trust and understanding, establishing healthy boundaries with respect, and creating a sustainable, supportive home environment are all key roles families can adopt. Family therapy is a crucial way to confront these complicated situations. Family therapy also keeps each person accountable for a teen’s ongoing sobriety and efforts, as well as commitments made by family members. This increases program retention, challenges unhelpful ideas and dynamics, and helps families adapt to new needs throughout the process.

Signs Your Teenage Son Needs Help

Families or parents may be in disbelief that addiction can hit so close to home. While nobody wants to envision their son living with the disease, knowing the signs can empower families and parents to take a knowledgeable approach and reach out for professional help when your son needs it most.

These signs can include:

  • Anxiety, depression, or mood swings, including decreased emotional resilience
  • Self-isolation tendencies or secretive behavior, such as locking doors or avoiding family functions
  • Sudden or drastic changes in social group
  • Decrease in academic performance or attendance
  • Increased behavioral challenges or consequences
  • Finding drug paraphernalia
  • Decrease in personal hygiene
  • Persistent stress
  • Signs of self-harm, including cuts, burns, or wearing out-of-season clothes that may attempt to hide such marks
  • Changes in sleep schedule, such as sleeping at odd times or having long periods of wakefulness
  • Noticeable changes in weight or dieting habits, including skipping meals

Each journey is different, and while difficult, noticing just some of these signs can be a reason to reach out to addiction and mental health professionals or the caring staff of Resilience Recovery to learn more about addiction, your situation, and your options, including how to talk to your son about their needs. Effective, sympathetic early intervention can be crucial to getting your son the help they need, confronting these effects early while building a new approach to daily life.
