RESILIENCE RECOVERY RESIDENCES

SOBER LIVING FACILITIES

Resilience Recovery Residences is a separate level of care from Resilience Recovery Resources. We are a FARR accredited sober living residence, located just 10 minutes away from our clinical offices. It is not required for sober living residents to participate in our clinical services, but it is required to attend some form of therapeutic programming.

Our campus is centrally located in the Old Northwood Historic District of West Palm Beach, Florida. We are 2 blocks from the Intracoastal and just 2 miles North of Downtown West Palm and the Arts & Entertainment District. Our three homes are located on a single campus with a joined courtyard for a community-based and family-style feel.

Residents are housed by age and level, designated as adolescent or adult housing. Our main house holds our community room, large dining room and staff office. Level 2 and 3 residents are moved into smaller apartment-style units, each equipped with their own kitchen and living room. All community dinners and events are held in the main “OR/Level 1” House.

SOBER LIVING SERVICES & ACTIVITIES

At Resilience Recovery Residences, we provide a number of services to best support our clients who are working to maintain their sobriety, while living in a community-based residence.

SERVICES

  • Staff Supervision: our Recovery Advocate staff is onsite to provide accountability and supervision. All staff is CPR, First AID & Narcan certified and trained.

  • Transportation: house vehicles and staff are provided to escort clients to and from clinical services (if they participate in Resilience Recovery Resources outpatient program), doctors appointments, 12-step meetings, and house activities.

  • Medication Observation: residents are required to keep their medications locked in the medication closet located in the staff office. All residents are observed self-administering their own prescribed medications and observation is logged daily.

  • Meals: we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner with healthy food options. Food preparation is done by the clients in order to develop the vital sense of community and encourage individual life skills.

  • House Meetings/Groups: at Resilience Recovery Residences, we conduct Morning Reflections Groups; Nightly Review Groups; and our weekly House Accountability Group, where residents are able to address any setbacks and also receive positive support from their peers and staff to help them achieve individual and group success. These are not clinical groups, but groups based in personal accountability and community.

  • Life Skills Development: Throughout the journey, Recovery Advocates meet our clients where they’re at; whether that’s cleaning their own space, learning how to prepare a meal, or learning how to self-advocate, we support all of our residents in developing crucial life skills to help navigate a healthy, independent life free of drugs and alcohol.

  • Educational, Vocational, and Service Support: our focus with residents is to develop a transition plan that leads to independent success. Whether it be finding a way to give back freely to the community, seeking a new passion in the work field, or expanding an individual’s educational goals, we have in-house support to achieve these goals and excellent community referrals for anything outside of our scope of practice.

  • Alternative Sentencing/Court Advocacy: we provide the highest level of support for our residents who have legal concerns when they arrive under our care. We offer written documentation of residents’ participation in our program. We also provide in-court advocacy to help all of our residents best represent their recovery efforts.

  • Scheduled and Randomized Drug Testing: to best hold all our clients accountable, we have scheduled and randomized urinalysis panel testing and alcohol detection devices.

ACTIVITIES

  • Gym Membership: a local gym membership is provided for our residents. We encourage physical wellness and all-around health. Although Resilience management is well versed in the health and fitness field, personal trainers and nutritionists are available by referral upon request.

Salt Water Therapy: swimming, surfing, stand-up paddle (SUP) boarding, and boogie boarding are all parts of our regular beach trips (weather-permitting). Our staff is First AID and CPR certified for residents with little to no experience in the ocean. We promote safety and insist on having a good time in the water.

Music Room/Recording Studio: an onsite music room and recording studio is available for residents to cultivate their creative passions. Music is known for having therapeutic benefits, helping to tap into emotions and express oneself through an alternative medium.

House Outings: while at Resilience Recovery, all residents who are eligible can participate in weekly house outings; and each month, we do a larger community event. Everything from professional baseball and basketball games, to bowling, fishing, the movies, laser tag, paintball and go-karting. It is of utmost importance to enjoy being sober, so this is what we call “mandatory fun”!

Annual Resident & Alumni Trip: we bring together our residents and alumni on an annual trip in the great outdoors to partake in the sunshine and scenery of this beautiful state. This trip is about unity, fellowship, and fun! Bonds are formed that last a lifetime while at Resilience Recovery. This annual trip is open for all alumni and current residents to come together and soak in the essence of sobriety.

SOBER LIVING HOUSING STRUCTURE

The Resilience Recovery Residences Program includes a structured accountability model. All residents are required to go through the level system in order to graduate from the program successfully. Program levels have minimum requirements in order to “level up,” however there are no maximum number of days. This is an individualized system, so residents progress at their own rate. All days provided below are approximated.

ORIENTATION level:

In this initial phase, new residents are welcomed into the Resilience Recovery program and are acclimating to their new daily routine. The length of phase is typically 2-week minimum and determined by their previous circumstances. Residents are expected to participate in all groups, chores, wake-up routines, and community activities. They are expected to attend seven 12-step meetings per week and acquire a sponsor during this time. They are typically stepping down into their new treatment levelfrom their previous program (such as residential inpatient treatment or detox), and may have additional outside supports. Residents are maintaining five forms of physical activity per week. As residents are getting into their new routine, they are on a restricted no-visitor policy and do not have any cell phone and/or technology privileges at this level. Residents must be accompanied by staff at all times. This phase of the program is intended to get residents adjusted to their new routine and become comfortable in their new recovery environment. We focus on forming new connections and creating a positive atmosphere for the rest of their stay with Resilience Recovery.

LEVEL 1:

Level 1 residents have been fully introduced and acclimated into the Resilience Recovery program and are consistently participating in groups, chores, wake-up routines, and community activities. They are expected to attend six 12-step meetings per week and obtain 1 commitment at a chosen meeting, in addition to having acquired a sponsor and actively commenced step work. They are typically participating in outpatient clinical services 5 days per week at the PHP or IOP level of care. Residents are maintaining five forms of physical activity per week and at least five hours of volunteering per week, depending on their clinical schedule. Adolescent residents are still on a restricted no cell phone and/or technology privileges at this level. Adult residents at this level are approved for cell phone/technology prvileges and should obtain employment. Level 1 residents must be accompanied by staff, a level 2 (or above) resident, a family member or sponsor (if not working) with management approval at all times. Level 1 is focused on laying the ground work - being an active participant in their own lives and becoming accountable to themselves and the Resilience Recovery community.

LEVEL 2:

Residents who have reached Level 2 will be given independent privileges with management approval and are therefore qualified and expected to accompany new residents, which builds a sense of trust and community. Level 2s are actively working steps with their sponsor and are expected to maintain attendance of six 12-step meetings per week and fulfill their 1 commitment per week. They are also actively participating in the Resilience Recovery program, including groups, chores, wake-up routines, and community activities. They are maintaining five forms of physical activity per week and 5 hours of volunteering per week (if employment has not started). They are typically participating in 9 hours a week of IOP or OP treatment and may have additional ancillary services. Adolescent residents are eligible for technology and cell phone privileges at this level and are expecting to obtain part-time employment. Residents are eligible for curfew extensions upon request at manager discretion and allowed two day passes per month (with staff approval) and one overnight pass. Level 2 residents are fully immersed in their recovery community and are starting their next steps, which may include work or school. With guidance from staff, they are creating and building their resumes, prepping for interviews or starting school applications. This phase of the program is aimed at helping our residents become active participants in their larger community and molding them to become leaders both in and out of the house.

LEVEL 3:

Level 3 residents have independent privileges with management accountability and are qualified and expected to accompany new residents. They are actively working the steps with their sponsor, are expected to attend five 12-step meetings per week with 1 commitment. Their consistent participation in the Resilience Recovery program is expected, as well as is being a leader in the community. This includes organizing meetings and outings, setting an example for others, and being of service to newer residents. This fosters our core values of Recovery, Leadership, and Community. Residents are expected to have a set schedule and be consistent with physical exercise and house responsibilities. They are currently employed or actively in school and provide accountability updates to management. At this phase, they are still participating in OP treatment typically 6 hours a week and are responsible for creating their own balanced schedule with therapy commitments, recovery commitments, work, and social activites. Level 3 residents are eligible extended curfew privileges at management discretion. They have full cell phone and technology privileges at this level and can have a car on property. Residents are also expected to look towards the future and their life beyond Resilience Recovery. They will be focused on goal setting and develop a Discharge Plan with management, their clinical team, and their family or support system. Level 3 residents will graduate the program once all their goals are reached and they have the necessary skills to live either independently or return home to their families.
