Who We Help
At Resilience Recovery Resources, our PHP in Florida serves two age groups: adolescent males ages 14-17 and young adult males ages 18-28. These individuals often face unique challenges that require specialized attention, mainly when dealing with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.
Adolescents Aged 14-17
Adolescence is a critical developmental stage, and the impact of substance use and mental health issues during this time can be particularly damaging. Adolescents struggling with addiction may face academic difficulties, strained relationships with family and peers, and an increased risk of legal issues.
Our adolescent partial hospitalization program provides a structured and supportive environment where adolescents can address these challenges in a therapeutic setting to support healing and relapse prevention. The program includes tailored interventions that help adolescents build coping skills, improve communication, and develop healthier relationships with their families and peers.
Family therapy is an essential component of this age group’s treatment, as we recognize that addiction and mental health struggles can deeply affect family dynamics. We work closely with families to support healing and recovery for both the individual and the family.
Young Adults Aged 18-28
A person’s experiences in young adulthood should be a time of exploration and self-discovery. However, for many young men, this period is marked by the challenges of substance use and mental health disorders. Many young adults who enter our partial hospitalization program have already experienced significant life disruptions due to their struggles, such as dropping out of school, losing jobs, or facing legal consequences.
Our program helps young adults develop a sense of responsibility, build life skills, and work toward independence. In addition to individual and group therapy, our PHP includes vocational and educational support to help clients regain control of their futures. We also incorporate relapse-prevention strategies to ensure long-term success after clients transition from our program.
What to Expect in Our PHP
PHPs are ideal for those who have graduated from a higher level of care, such as medical detox or residential treatment, and are looking for an effective “step down” option while building a life in sobriety. A level of care between residential and outpatient care, PHPs provide a unique opportunity to continue building skills while embracing new freedoms and opportunities.
Our program offers a holistic blend of therapeutic services, ensuring each client’s treatment is tailored to their unique challenges. We provide:
- 25 Hours of Group Therapy per Week: These sessions go beyond discussions, offering interactive activities that foster growth through peer support, life skills exercises, and the practical application of recovery tools.
- Individual Therapy: Weekly one-on-one sessions with a therapist focus on uncovering root causes and developing personalized strategies for long-term success.
- Family Involvement: Family is central to the recovery process. We provide weekly family updates and therapy sessions as needed, helping to rebuild trust and foster a supportive home environment.
- Holistic Medical Oversight: Our medical team offers psychiatric evaluations and medication management, carefully monitoring clients’ mental and physical health to support ongoing recovery.
- Comprehensive Case Management: We provide continuous support through case management, offering goal-setting, vocational assistance, recovery skills development, and court advocacy to help clients rebuild their futures.
- Nutrition and Wellness Support: Clients have access to nutrition services that teach balanced diet principles and the vital role of proper nutrition in emotional and mental well-being.
- Academic and Life Skills Support: Our team works with schools to ensure clients stay on track academically and provides life skills development to prepare them for the challenges of daily life after treatment.
Focusing on individual, group, and family therapy, as well as life skills training, our program ensures that you receive mental health treatment designed to support your long-term recovery and personal growth.
Daily Life in Our PHP
Adolescents
Our adolescent PHP is designed for males aged 14 to 17 who are ready to overcome addiction and its effects.
Days start around 7:00 a.m., with morning meditation before getting ready for routines, chores, and responsibilities. Clinical groups then run from 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m, with a 30-minute lunch break at noon and regular breaks throughout. After clinical groups and individual therapy, clients return to housing for free time, benefitting from several amenities and holistic opportunities before dinner, made family-style by peers under staff supervision.
Academics are also incorporated into our PHP treatment programs, with 2 hours per day dedicated to scholastics, starting at either 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. at a satellite location. This is facilitated by our Florida-certified special education instructor utilizing online virtual learning opportunities, so clients don’t fall behind in their academics while pursuing necessary addiction and mental health treatment.
Evenings then conclude with an off-site 12-Step meeting, followed by lights out at 10:00, after clients have had time to relax and recuperate from a day of healing and responsibilities.
Weekends take a more relaxed approach, featuring experiential activities and group exercises to embrace all that a sober lifestyle offers.
Young Adults
Our young adult PHP program shares many similarities with our adolescent program, but is geared toward men aged 18-28. It also starts a little later in the day to accommodate work schedules and allow those in recovery the ability to work part-time jobs in the morning. Clinical groups run from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the PHP level, with 10-15 minute breaks in between groups, and a half-hour dinner break.
Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders
Substance use disorder rarely exists in isolation. Many of our clients also struggle with co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, or trauma-related conditions. Treating both the substance use disorder and any co-occurring mental health conditions is crucial to achieving lasting recovery.
At Resilience Recovery Resources, our PHP program provides comprehensive, integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders. Through a combination of evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care, we help clients address the root causes of their struggles and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
A Family-Centered Approach
Addiction is often referred to as a “family disease” because it doesn’t just impact the individual struggling with substance use; it affects the entire family. Family involvement is a core component of our partial hospitalization program.
Healing occurs more effectively when the family is involved in the treatment process. Our family therapy sessions are designed to rebuild trust, improve communication, and provide families with the tools to support their loved ones in recovery. We also offer education and support groups for families, helping them better understand addiction and the recovery process.
